March 2nd is celebrated as Texas Independence Day.
On March 2, 1836, the Texas Declaration of Independence was adopted. It was at this point settlers created the Republic of Texas, officially breaking from Mexico.

NEWS FROM THE LIBRARY ~Happy Reading To All~

   March 1, 2016

Junior Librarians meeting Thursday March 3rd after

school in the library 3:10 – 3:45.

Mini Librarians’ next meeting will be Wednesday, April 6, 2016;

3:10 – 3:45 in the library.

 VISIT THE ALAMO IN OUR  STM  LIBRARY:  Ms. Espinosa’s awesome seventh graders have recreated the Alamo with original details. Lima beans, metal bolts, Legos, artificial grass, and lots of red nail polish all come together in a creative manner that takes one back to March 6, 1836 when Col. William B. Travis, James Bowie, Davy Crockett, and almost 200 other Texan volunteers occupied the Alamo.  Stop by the library to see firsthand the inventiveness of our students as they bring to life the Alamo Plaza.

Happy Reading “thank you” to the Stephens family who donated Magic Tree House books which will soon be processed and entered into circulation.
http://barstow.k12.ca.us/files/user/910/image/library.jpgAll students are welcome to visit the library.  We have 8 computers and over 11,000 books!

The library strives to keep up on current book requests that will help our students become avid readers.

Come in to do mandatory reading, pleasure reading, research, homework, or AR quizzes!
